In Year 10 & 11 before you start your Post 16 education you are entitled to funding to visit mainland schools and colleges to see where you’d like to study for your post 16 education/ training. A reimbursement grant of up to £170 is available to support travel costs of visiting your prospective school or college.
The grant can be applied for once for each student, either in Year 10 or in Year 11, at any time during the school year. For details of the grant click here, to apply for the grant please complete and return the application form and the evaluation form to Children’s Services.
In Year 12 + For students who are resident on the Isles of Scilly there is currently a Travel & Accommodation Allowance available for when you are studying on the mainland. This funding is provided by the Education Funding Agency (EFA) and is administered on their behalf by the Council of the Isles of Scilly. Scholarships/ Bursaries and other discretionary awards may be available from schools and colleges ranging from support for boarding costs, tuition fees and bus passes. Contact the education provider you are considering to find out what support might be available.
